The first-ever welcome event organized by the Pakistan Embassy in Ireland, in collaboration with the Association of Irish Pakistani Physicians & Surgeons (AIPPS), witnessed an impressive turnout. This moment marked a significant milestone for Pakistani doctors in Ireland. For the first time, a formal welcome and orientation event was hosted by our very own Pakistan Embassy, in partnership with the dynamic team at AIPPS. This historic occasion not only provided a warm welcome to new doctors on an unprecedented scale but also offered a unique opportunity to engage with diplomats and address important issues.
H.E. Aisha Farooqui delivered the Welcome Address, followed by Dr. Moazzam Gulzar, who introduced the AIPPS initiative. During the session, various speakers addressed essential topics related to work and life in Ireland after coming from Pakistan.
Dr. Sohail Rasool started the discussion by raising points on professional and ethical challenges in the workplace, setting a reflective tone for the talks. Dr. Farrkhanda Qaisar discussed family-related challenges faced by working couples and the different options they can avail of in terms of child care. Dr. Ehtasham Yousaf and Dr. Waqas Hussain discussed “Logistical Issues,” focusing on the operational challenges in the workplace.
Dr. Anum Zara spoke on “Workplace Challenges,” shedding light on the difficulties professionals face in maintaining a work-life balance and navigating complex work environments. Dr. Rizwan Khan explored “Ethical + Cultural Challenges,” emphasizing the importance of maintaining ethical standards while respecting cultural diversity.
Dr. Javaid discussed “Career Progression,” offering professional growth and advancement insights. The session concluded with a “Pre-closing Speech” by Dr. Liqa U Rehman and a final “Closing Remarks” by Mr. Nauman Nabi before participants engaged in networking and refreshments.
